Protecting PEPFAR’s Unique and Successful Structure
CCIH was one of 84 faith-based and secular organizations that signed onto a letter to protect CDC PEPFAR programs. The letter was sent to U.S. House and Senate Appropriations Committee leadership. The letter points out that PEPFAR is a long-standing, bipartisan global health initiative that has been instrumental in the global fight against HIV, saving over 26 million lives. It highlights that one key to PEPFAR’s remarkable success has been its unique, congressionally designed structure that allows it to utilize the strengths of multiple agencies, including the CDC.
